A Taste of Chipcago — Tales From the Chippy City - Part Two of Three. (from tevin)
Part Two: Old Town Social’s Goose Fat Potato Chips

On the second day of my visit to Chicago, my brother Tony and his lovely girlfriend brought me to this amazing place called Old Town Social. It’s an olde-fashioned style charcuterie and gastropub located in, you guessed it, Old Town. Serving up the tastiest of cured meats and other delectables, this place is a must on your list of food stops in the windy city.
While perusing the menu in my usual tradition, I did a double take. My eyes were sucked out by the vacuum of the item listed “Goose Fat Potato Chips”. I couldn’t wait to get these fuckers to my table and take advantage of them with my salivating mouth.
Sucking down my Goose Island Honker’s Ale in anticipation, the moment arrived when the slutty waitress set the bowl of love in front of us…
Holy fuck! Now I eat a lot of chips, but never (and I do mean never) have I tasted anything like this before. It was like the first time I sat on my own hand until it became numb just so I could pretend it was someone else jacking me off… the stranger. Sprinkled with just the right amount of sea salt and perfectly aged malt vinegar, the chip just swam over my taste buds. Being fried in goose fat (FUCKING GOOSE FAT!) gave it an ever so slightly gamey aftertaste. I didn’t know which way was up until the bowl was empty and I was brought back to sad reality. Holy fuck!
These chips don’t come in a bag, these chips aren’t sold in stores and if you’re one of those vegetarian or vegan bitches then these chips aren’t for you. And goddammit, Chef Jared Van Camp, you’ve changed my life forever with your genius idea of taking the best snack food and frying it up in animal fat! Just for that, I award you the title of honorary master fuckin’ chipper. You’ve gone and chipturbated all over my mouth and I love you for it. Fuck you!
Chips,
